Being new to this group I noticed on GC.com there is a National CITO day April 17th. Does the Minnesota Group paritcipate in this or because they have their own monthly one do they not participate?

Last year 15Tango and Perrine organized an event for the National CITO day. Several of us picked up trash in Fort Snelling State Park.
See the write-up Arrow here . Hopefully we will do something similiar this year.

FYI - It's registered to Viking Council BSA's Dan Patch District under the MnPCA-Public Works "Adopt-A-Wetland" program!

Viking Council is the Boy Scouts of America council for Minneapolis and Dan Patch is a District within it. I really don't believe that the council or the district is truly aware of geocaching, much less using it as part of any of their programs. My guess is that this is an individual attempting to marry the two and not going about it very well at all. Or communicating in an understandable fashion.

As to the other stuff I have NO idea. Confused

Just to give people some background on some of the things he linked to in that flowchart...:

The MN Futurists are a group of people that get together and postulate about the future. Heh. Neat. No joke. You can even see some of the things they've figured out about the future on their site: http://www.mnfuturists.org/

The Minnesota Information Professional Society (Who according to the flowchart are getting their information from NASA), looks like some type of club full of IT Professionals. As an IT Professional, I've never heard of this club. I'll leave my other opinions about that aside. EcoTrekUSA used to be on the board. http://www.mnips.org/

It also looks like he wants to create some eco-caching-video that trains geocachers how to trash out!

http://www.acctts.com/EcotrekUSA/Index2.htm

This guy spends a LOT of time and a LOT of work doing this, yet he seems completely disconnected with the universe we live in.

And even on sites that have nothing to do with the eco-, v-, e-, geo- prefixes, he still promotes his sites:

http://www.schneemann.com/_disc9/00000036.htm

Very interesting....! This is giving me something to think about.

I'm about ready to put tin-foil on my head and run away.

As another IT professional I second this.

You wouldn't make it far. He'd EkoTrek you down and shove the tinfoil in a log!

From my experience with Scout LEADERS, you get enough of them together and they can screw up anything. Really feel bad for the kids.
Some are good but most seem to be trying to redo their childhood. You
have to admit, the guy can make one heck of a flow chart.

It seems to me that this is the 4th fruit cake in as many weeks. I can't remember the first, (oh the shame), then there was the cleaner, then mndomme, now this guy. I think some one has just one goal.

To mess with you guys.

This guy has been around for a while. In fact this cache had been active for quite some time before anyone hit it. I had to deal with him a while back in regards to his logs (lengthy and STRANGE which included links to my email address and external commercial sites). He was also "lifting" random images from websites and putting them on his log acting as if they were somehow related to his finding the cache (ie a picture of some flower and saying it was from Normandale CC's Japanese flower garden)...

He's actually emailed mtn-man what I had posted here and mtn-man was just as confused as I was. I am just glad that no one else seems to understand what he is talking about either. I don't feel quite as perplexed.

MESSING WITH OUR HEADS......Is not the word.....

Its really too bad this guy did this.......and broken a few(many) rules of placement of hides according to geocaching.com.

The reason I'm saying this......His puzzle caches would be the hardest in the world.....when this guy makes a post it is impossible to understand!!!!

Any ways I'm still confused as to how this guy promotes scouting and I wonder what his own scouts think of him as a "role model"......

I would be more concerned with him teaching them the way to run a business being that he seems awfully interested in "Amway-like" scheming.

Eh? I just got this. Most interesting is the recipient list.

Aaron - Your helpful suggestions got diverted by other efforts
I'm guiding for EarthKeeping / Firewise / GeoTeach MapXchange
and MnDEM-Homeland Security / Emergency Preparedness BSA ...

Please accept my belated apologies for not responding sooner ...

I'll keep working with Metro-MN water quality advocates & collaborators
to adjust alternative "REI-EcoCaching" guidelines we've proposed
for closer alignment with acceptable shared use alternatives
like Adopt-A-Wetland & Adaptive Recreation Orienteering exercises ...
@ http://HyperportCO.futurethought.org <-(MnDNR Smith Lake Park)

Also preview @ http://GeoScoutng.futurethought.org <-(Multi-Generational
Mentoring)

FYI - Since REI refers its members (like me) to www.geocaching.com, our
common goal
is integrating REI www.lnt.org practices for "GeoScouting" Patrols (small
groups)
and offer alternative REI-based "Learn & Share" recognition or raffle
rewards ...

Simply amazing. Even Jillibean got it. =)

Loopy
