|
|
I would like to get a list going of parks which are open after dark. Nightcaching is illegal in far too many parks that close "1/2 hour after sunset." Winter is a tough time to cache those parks.
I am searching municipal codes and main parks websites.

I'd suggest editing your first post to incorporate new information so folks don't need to scroll through all of the posts to find what they are looking for.
Duluth parks are open 6am to 10pm, except the lake walk which is open until midnight I believe. _________________ Hmm... |

Hmmmm, how would you define the park rules for Mahtomedi?
"10.14 B. It shall be unlawful for any person to loiter, loaf or idle in, remain in, or leave any vehicle in any park or upon any parkway, or pathway between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise of the following day. Nothing in this section shall apply to persons traveling, without delay, upon established pathways or parks or upon parkways.
C. The provisions of Subsection B of this section do not apply to anyone in certain areas such as lighted tennis courts, softball fields, ice skating areas, organized sports, and/or activities as recognized by or under by Community Services"
As long as we keep moving we can stay in the park? But we can't leave our cars? Are we an organized sport?
If I were a park officer, I would say we would fall under the get out by 30 minutes past sunset. I dunno.
*updated new hours for Mahtomedi!
10.02 HOURS OF OPERATION.
1. Parks will be open for public use from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m., unless posted otherwise.
2. It shall be unlawful for any person other than authorized City personnel to loiter, idle, remain in, or leave any motor vehicle in any park or upon any parkway or pathway when the park is not open to the public.
3. The provisions of subsection two of this Section do not apply to anyone in designated areas such as lighted tennis courts, softball fields, or ice skating
HEEEHEEEE! Here are Stillwater's rules:
Sec. 48-5. Prohibited hours for certain acts.
Subd. 1.Prohibited hours for certain acts generally. It is unlawful for any person to be present in or upon the public parks within the city between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. when that person does loiter or make undue noise by shouting or yelling, or when that person otherwise disturbs the peace and quite of the city.
Does that mean Stillwater parks are 24/7 if we are quiet? (or "quite" as the case might be)

|
|
| Although it is already included in Tesser's list at the top of this thread, I'll mention it again. John Moriarty from Ramsey County Parks has asked me to get the word out that their parks officially close one half hour after sunset. If you are in one of their parks after that, you are technically breaking the law. |

Is that like technically being pregnant??? _________________ I am amazed by how many people harp on the need to speak and write English in this country while exhibiting a fundamental lack of skills in the areas of spelling and sentence composition. Would this be irony, hypocrisy, or both? |

Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
It's inaccurate to use the parking odinance to define hours of Minneapolis Parks as most parks are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. And even if a park were open later all undeveloped areas are open by ordinance from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Ramsey County, I think that John Moriarty is in charge of Planning and Natural Resource and someone named Mack is the Director. |

Now that it's dark early again, I started looking more of these up. It's good to give this one a bump up too. Added: Blaine, Ham Lake, Circle Pines.
Here is the Circle Pines ordinance:
703.02 Hours. No person, except authorized City
employees, police, and fire personnel shall enter or remain
in any public park or grounds between sunset and sunrise.
Participants in approved, organized recreational activities
may be in City parks until 10:00 p.m. Pedestrians may
traverse park property during restricted hours, as long as
they stay on maintained pathways and not loiter.
I guess that if you place a cache adjacent to a trail, and make it not too hard to find as to be considered loitering, it could be a 24/7 cache |

I would love to help out with Rochester...but...
Some close at Dusk...a couple close at 9pm...a few close at 10pm...while others close at 11pm...
Sorry...nothing standard...most all have signs at the entrance for when they close... _________________ You may only be young once...but I will be immature forever!!! |

This cache may be located in a public park with posted hours. It is your responsibility to be aware of and adhere to any hours of operation. Logs indicating caching outside of those hours will be deleted.
Enough said. |

A slap on the hand is good. Changing the log is good. But a log delete? |
