I know there are some event junkies in MnGCA, so Ill post the preliminary info about this one:
| Quote: |
May 27-28, 2006 (Memorial Day weekend), the Iowa Geocachers Org and the Winnebago Council of the BSA will host a two day geocaching event at the council's Camp Ingawanis (near Waverly, IA).
|
We are still finalizing the costs, but it looks like the basic registration will be $5.00 per person and will include tent camping. A bunk in a sleeping cabin will be $5.00 and a "dry" RV spot will be $15.00.
We are planning a couple of orienteering-style competitions (like at MOGA05). And there will be lots of non-geocaching activies, so bring the whole family.
Keep an eye on this page for more info. Ill also add new info to this thread as it firms up. _________________ WindChill - www.IowaGeocachers.Org |

I wont name any names, lets just put it this way.....Having seen more MnGCA members than IGO members at a certain "large" event back in April, I know that you guys a) are willing to drive a ways for an event and b) you make the most of the event while you are there _________________ WindChill - www.IowaGeocachers.Org |

The registration page is not ready just yet. Hopefully within a week. |
Okay, so it has been just a little more than a week, but registration info is now available here
This is shaping up to be a great event. We hope to see a bunch of MnGCA'ers _________________ WindChill - www.IowaGeocachers.Org |

$10 for two of us to camp!? Tons of activities that even Marsha will like? Sounds like something we're up for. I asked her, she's still sleepy, and she's good w/it but I'll ask again when she's awake to make sure
Thanks for the updates WindChill. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

http://www.iowageocachers.org/ingawanis.php for online registration. Marsha and I are registered for "Cedar View" campground (located near the showers!)
I had a bit of confusion with the online registration and am waiting to hear back from them (i.e. it said I was registered and paid on one page and not another).
Event registration is $5/adult and camping is included! _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

I'm looking for one or two families that might be interested in renting one of the cabins with me. it's $5 a bunk and my family will take up 3 or 4 bunks, and the smallest cabins have 12 bunks, so that leaves 8 bunks to "rent".
I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old (both girls) , so looking for a family that maybe has a child in that 3-6 year age so my daugher has someone to play with.
This is a good deal for Memorial day weekend, $5/person plus food, and a little bit for some various activities.
I'd rather not buy the entire cabin myself.
PM me if you are interested.
Thanks!! |

A quick update....sir_zman, if you are still interested in a cabin you shouldnt have any problems. So far, we have 0 bunks reserved.
For folks wanting to stay in an area motel, dont wait too long. That is graduation weekend for Wartburg College so rooms will be hard to get at the last minute.
If you want to camp, but are not up for the lack of services at the event site, here are a couple of nearby campgrounds: George Wyth State Park, Blackhawk County Park. Be sure to call ahead for Blackhawk park, Im told high river levels affects their campgrounds. _________________ WindChill - www.IowaGeocachers.Org |
