We have had a busy month with a MnGCA Board meeting, plenty of event planning, parks contacts, and a new webmaster. Check it all out below!

Old-business updates:

Arrow I mentioned last month that the 2006 International CITO Day hosted by the MnGCA (see the cachehere for more information) would be happening on Saturday 4/22/2006. We have recently received word that in addition to trash bags and pickup service, Dakota County has graciously offered to supply us with snacks and bottled water!

A big thanks go out to Dakota County for their support of geocaching in Minnesota.

Other Park Relations initial contacts will continue through early 2006 and on. With the updates to the Three Rivers policy finalized and posted we are looking to work with the other park districts that have similar policies to Three Rivers. Those parks include Carver, Champlin, and Ramsey.

We’ll keep you posted on any developments there.

Arrow Paklid and I met with Carver County on Friday February 24th at their offices out in Cologne. It was a great discussion and their parks people are willing to take our suggested changes to their currently policy before their Board during the April 2006 meeting.

We should have some updates for you hopefully before May.

Arrow I have also been in contact with both Champlin City Parks and Ramsey County Parks and we will be meeting with Ramsey when time permits. Champlin had some interesting commentary on their current policy and the MnGCA Board will be contacting them again, prior to any meetings, soon.

We’ll keep you posted with any updates there.

New Business:

Arrow The MnGCA has a *ton* of upcoming Breakfast events this spring! Breakfast Buddies in Richfield, Fargo, and Woodbury. Fargo and Woodbury will be held at 9AM by popular demand. We have had some excellent turnouts at the recent Breakfast Buddies in Maple Grove and Roseville and we are looking forward to similar results at the non-OCB versions too!

Arrow We have some other events coming up which include:

1. The Great 2006 MnGCA Poker Run being held in early April. This event will be a “Poker Run” where you will get a hand of random cards from temporary caches during the day and when we all meet up for dinner in the evening the “winners” (high and low hands) will receive a 2006 MnGCA Silver Geocoin. We also have $100 worth of MnGCA logowear to give away!

A great big thanks goes out to Jambro for planning, writing up, and hosting this event!

2. The 2006 International CITO Day in late April which is being held in Thomson County Park (Dakota County Parks). We will be picking up trash and spending the day chatting it up, caching, and possibly having a picnic lunch!

Dakota County Parks and the MnGCA need your help to make this event a big success! Please do show your support and post a “Will Attend” if you’re planning on making it.

3. The 2006 MnGCA Spring Event (Cannonball Wilderness Run) being held June 10th right outside of Faribault! This is going to be a blast. A huge park and beautiful park (over 850 acres) that will be chock full of caches, food, and fun.

If you’re planning on coming out be sure to let us know how many in your party (for free food) and what you’re bringing for dessert! Get ready to win some great prizes too.

*** Check out a listing of all the MnGCA events on the main page here:

Arrow GeoPierce has taken over as the MnGCA Webmaster. He will be redesigning the MnGCA website and will be incorporating a lot of our current features along with a whole bunch of new ones.

Keep an eye out for any updates we might have on that!

Even though this has been a relatively busy month for us that’s about all we have. Keep checking back to the Forum for regular updates or stay tuned for the April Cacheside Chat!

Happy cachin’,

Silent Bob
