I want to make my own antenna. Does anyone know what frequency GPS runs on or any sites that say how to make your own antenna?
My antenna broke and I figured it would be fun to make my own. |

| I don't know how but ever since I dropped my Garmin V in the parking lot, there's been a rattling inside the detachable antenna and I haven't got quite the same lock on satellites since. I'll be watching this thread for any cool ideas. |

Well, my antenna base was loose. When I turned the antenna the wire inside twisted then. I took my GPS apart and untwisted it. Then tightened up the base of the antenna.
Unfortunately I can't tell if it is the antenna or the cold weather causing me to not get any sats. But I get sats int he car. In there I have it pluged to the 14 volts formthe car. So the more power might be something to than the 5.5 coming from the batteries.
I think I will make my own antenna though. I found this

I might make the dipole or patch antenna. |
