What is the criteria for picking the locations of the Breakfast Buddie events? There is one set for Fargo in April but I will be out of town on vacation that week. I am looking forward to meeting some fellow Cachers, guess I'll have to make a trip to the big city.

I believe that we are trying to get every third (or is it fourth?) one in a "non-metro" location. The last (December) was in Duluth.
As far as picking the location in particular, we sent a couple of emails to cachers in the area and we were pretty much only given one option back that was workable, so we reserved there.
Hope that answers your question. Sorry you aren't able to attend! |

As long as were on this subject.... I've been wondering about the 1 time each month that is "NON METRO":
How far away is the limit? (Is there a limit?)
If the MnGCA is hosting the event (MINNESOTA Geocaching Association), why are we holding an event outside of the state?
Please don't get me wrong....I know that Fargo isn't really that far-to-go (pun intended =) and I love the fact that the locations are moved around to other areas of Minnesota, etc. It doesn't bother me at all that one is scheduled in Fargo........Just saw the location for Fargo and my first thought was "hey.....I'm not good at geography....but isn't Fargo in North Dakota?") _________________ Everyone has a photographic memory..some, like me, just don't have any film. |

Actually, Fargo is just the much larger suburb of Moorhead. My family there actually goes to dinner(s) in Fargo, so IMHO it seems like a logical choice. _________________ When Re-Inventing the Wheel ... Think Rounder |

Didn't they make a movie about Minnesota a while back, and named it "Fargo"? _________________ ...formerly 'dachebo'. |

Because when we asked people from that area where they thought a good place to have the event would be, they recommended the "Fryn' Pan". This particular Fryn' Pan was very helpful in getting a group reservation setup (including a room).
I have met a lot of cachers but due to the proximity of Moorhead/Fargo to the Cities, we don't get to meet many people from that way. We were flying blind and went with the suggestions of those who knew best.
Being that it's less than 5 miles across the border I didn't see it as being a big deal. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

I guess I wasn't concerned about the place that we eat at. I was really wondering about the selection of the city where the event is held, and the criteria that goes into that selection.

1. Location of the previous "greater Minnesota" breakfast (we want to distribute them as evenly as we can).
2. Is the location fairly easy to get to? Major highways, etc.
3. Is there a local cacher community?
On and on and on.
Hope that helps _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
