Some state governments are also getting in on the fun, using geocaching to encourage people to visit the state.
John Kuehl, the eBusiness director for Wisconsin's Department of Tourism, said the state encourages communities to nominate local sites of scenic beauty or historical significance.
"The goal is to get people to move around the state," he said. "Then we'd have a trail that people can follow to see what Wisconsin has to offer."
Other states from Arkansas to Pennsylvania are jumping on the bandwagon, too. Their Web sites list geocaching suggestions as well as rules for proper land use. |
Seems like the timing of this article could be beneficial to our upcoming meetings with the DNR. We can't let Wisconsin get ahead of us

Interesting article - somehow I missed hearing about that one. Usually the folks at work will tell me when they read caching articles. I noticed that it is almost a month old now.
For the record, it's the Duluth News Tribune, not Duluth Star/Tribune.
Thanks for the link! |

They already are. They've had caches in State Parks for years. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

We're headed out to the Laughlin area for 2 weeks of caching- the area is inundated with caches- just sorting through those you need a 4 x 4 for as we will just have a regular car. We are not gamblers- the first thing we did when thinking about going out there was to look and see what caches were arounf the area. I don't think we would have gone there if there weren't a lot to keep us busy for 2 weeks- other than canoeing on the Colorado River.
We travel and cache- it is what guides us on our trips. Better than the tourist brochures. _________________ LIFE IS GOOD;CABIN LIFE IS GREAT |
