The bow hunt for deer within the city of Duluth starts Saturday and goes thru Dec. 31st. Hunters are suppose to stay at least 200 ft from trails. Areas include Mission Creek, Piedmont, upper Lester River...

Is there any type of a map online showing where hunters will be? I know I'll be back up in that area over Thanksgiving (grew up in Duluth and parents still live there), so I want to know where to avoid so I don't ruin someone's hunting. Thanks!

I've tried pulling it up in the News Tribune archives, but can't find it. Some of the areas are:
upper Lester River
about all of Mission Creek in FDL
along skyline west of Spirit Mountain

Would it be out of line for me to ask a few select geocachers to meet me in certain parks in Duluth to cache together? And for us to recognize each other by wearing sticks on our head and wear brown coats?

Anyone want to join me?

For maps of the bowhunt areas, click on this link, then select which area on that page you are interested in:

Thanks for posting the bow hunting link. Duluth is loaded with
some grand caches. It's good to be aware of hunting territory.

Archery hunters are suppose to stay at least 200ft off of the trails, but those would only be the "official" trails and not include ones where there are some caches. I just make a lot of noise when I'm out there...not too hard with a 4 y.o....

Thanks a ton for the links...now I just have to figure out how to get the caches right up the hill from my parents house without interupting the hunters too much off skyline right near horseshoe bend.

Then again, how many are going to be out that close to thanksgiving Wink

It's best to wear blaze orange when in any area that you suspect hunting is going on, whether it's rifle or archery. Even a blaze orange cap is better than nothing and are relatively cheap to purchase.
