Or, just let the newbies hide their cache. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

| Unless I missed something, the policy says virtual/earth caches only are allowed in State Parks and not in SNAs. I saw nothing referring to WMAs, boat launches, etc. Did I miss it? |

| Correct, their new policy only seems to mention State Parks. The point of posting it to this thread was to show virtual caches aren't banned on *all* DNR lands anymore. |
Nor, by my interpretation, are other types of caches. |

I don't think anything really changed. Over time we learned better what is and what isn't allowed. In this case the storage of personal property in WMA's is expressly forbidden.

That was a WPA. I removed the flag, and gave it to the owner.
That was NOT a WMA. |

Geocaches are also not permitted on WPAs in Minnesota.

| Mtn-man recently gave me some contact information for someone in the DNR that he had exchanged emails with. It is my understanding that existing caches were OK but no more would be allowed. I have not yet made the effort of contacting this person myself for purposes of clarifying the situation regarding geocaching in WMAs. I will now make that a priority. Until then, I will not knowingly publish new caches in WMAs, SNAs, or AMAs. |

Just to state MY interest: SNAs, AMAs should be off limits. WMAs are ideal for geocaching. I'll edit this later, if my memory is incorrect, but I believe there are 1380 WMAs in the state. THAT should be the primary discussion with the DNR.
An odd side note: WPA caches are being approved in Wisconsin, and evidently, surviving.
edit- corrected number
