Forgive me, but I'm not a native Minnesotan--but does anyone know anything about the spiral bridge in Hastings? I didn't even know about it myself until I saw a painting of it on the wall at the Law and Justice Center when I was fulfilling part of my obligation to Dakota County last Friday. That think looks like it would have been trés cool back in the day--I haven't been able to find out any more about it, other than the painting I saw. All I've been able to find out is from Google is that it is unique to the USA (which isn't true--there used to be a spiral railroad bridge out of the high desert of California down to the L.A. basin) and it was torn down in 1951. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

| I lived near the sprial bridge for nearly a decade when I was growing up and working in Cottage Grove. The sprial bridge was very cool back in da' day when my parents used to use it a few times a week when they were teens. |

Check out photo collections here. http://www.mnhs.org/index.htm
Type spiral bridge in the search box. _________________ "The best way to defeat the totalitarian of hate is with an ideology of hope -- an ideology of hate -- excuse me --with an ideology of hope." --George W. Bush, Fort Benning, Ga., Jan. 11, 2007 |
