It made it up to 96° today. With the heat index it made it to 106°. We had to do a PT test for guards this morning. I left home it was already 78°. By the time we got done with the run, it was already 89°. That was about 9:30 this morning. I HATE days that are this humid. I could live with the temp, but when you factor in the humidity it's just too hard to function doing a Pt test. We had two personell fall out due to the heat, and about half didn't pass mainly due to the heat. I downed two 64 oz. bottles of gatorade in the next two hours after the PT test along with a 20 oz. bottle of water. I feel a lot better now than I did after the PT test.

Anyone bother to even try going geocaching in this heat? I think I'd just stay home where it's cooler.

I feel for you. What you are describing was a daily life while stationed at Fort Benning. I would leave for work at 0500 and it would be 80 degrees and 80% humidity. You would be sweating just walking out the front door to the car. Then morning PT. For me at the Airborne School that usually meant about 1.5 hours from 0600 to 0730. Quick shower (which never did any good) then out to either Ground or Tower for the day or the DZ.

By the way it only hit 90 here in Germany yesterday. Laughing

I went through Airborne during August of '88, and with a roster number of C146, that meant that during jump week, I'd get to spend most of the day sitting on the hot tarmac with all my gear for a few hours before I'd even get onto an aircraft, and those buggers weren't much cooler on the inside. With 18 years in the Guard, I've done plenty of PT tests in less that pleasant weather, and being in leadership positions as both an Officer and an NCO, I've been out running in the heat even if I didn't need a PT test for record, because I've had some of my subordinates out there.

I missed out on the heat wave here last week. Was out in Southern CA on a vacation, still managed some caching (can you say MICRO heaven). Caching in SOCAL is a lot different then back here in MN. Still lots of fun. Temps ranged between 75 and 80 degrees during the day, beautiful sunshine, NO MISQUITOS, and NO TICKS.

I was going to go out and make another check on my apparently impossible cache in Spring Lake Park yesterday but with temps in the high 90s and the heat index registering over 100 I wasn't about to hear Marsha whine while I stumbled down the side of the cliff.

Luckily today the temps were milder. I'm tempted to visit the site with BB&D to help them w/their darkhorse cache Wink

agreed. Was tough being out Saturday caching, then today, it's great out... and I'm stuck at work...

It is 30 some degrees cooler here today at 61 degrees in Hib.
Sure feels refreshing.. sorta a drizzly day at times. Geocaching
on the mind....

It was 93 in Ely yesterday and right now it is 64 and drizzle- a typical damp fall day.

Building a second garage the last two weekends wasn't the brightest idea, but now that we've got a little break in the heat we started roofing yesterday before it gets warm again. My buddy in Iraq reports daily temps in the 120-130 range-I don't miss that one bit.
