Haven't figured out what you're talking about, but it sounds interesting.

Someone stole a house-arrest prisoner's tracking unit. The tracking unit was followed and the theif was arrested. Not very smart

LOL -- my favorite part of that article is the last paragraph......
| Quote: |
| "The remainder are usually impulsive thieves, sometimes students or youths -- and very often drunk -- who steal a bike to get home after their own was pinched." |
So this means that 24,000+ bicycles are stolen annually in Amsterdam by drunken students who probably wake up the next day and wonder where that new bicycle came from and where is mine?
Wonder if this ever happens to Kitch and his car? (kidding!!) |

Where are they going to put the GPS receiver and location transmitter that it won't be easily found and become a target itself (by the smart thieves who disconnect the power first)? The only place I can think of is inside the tire.
Next year we will read about the rampant tire slashing problem in Amsterdam. "Druggies slashing bike tires for GPS receivers". Then, the truth will come out that the police never planted any GPS units at all, figuring that they would stage a couple of phony busts and after that the threat would be deterrent enough. |

It wasn't the bracelet... It was the bracelet's transponder station... The one that sends oput the alaram if the bracelet gets to far away..... Apparently in this system, they put all the expensive electronics (like the GPS) in the big box while they strap a cheap RFID unit onto the 'bad guy'.... |
