What am I missisng? Can we place photos of ourselves in our profile?

Here or at Geocaching.com? At geocaching.com go to your profile page:

and about 3/4 of the way down the page look for

I mean MN GC ASSOCIATION page- right now the way I am feeling about gc.com, I would have a picture of me sticking my tongue out !

We don't currently support pictures or avatars on this forum. We are planning on adding that in the near future. You're not the first to ask for it and we need to be more responsive. I'll get the team on it!
