Just purchased a GARMIN V - am trying to download waypoints from geocaching.com using Easy GSP but am unsuccessful. Are there some tricks to doing this?

When I download waypoints the file will not go to easy gps, but rather is saved on the desktop. When I try to open the file it says "unable to open HTML Document"

Try changing the suffix of the filename to ".loc" instead of ".htm".

Thanks for the support to our problem. We still couldn't get it to work on our Presario so switched over to our IBM laptop and with your ideas- got it to work!

Sounds like a file association problem on the Presario... Which OS are you running?

Have you tried opening up the EasyGPS program and trying to open the file from the desktop within EasyGPS itself. I would bet that would work. If that does it is a file association problem.

Anybody remember or have access to Windows 95 to set file associations?

I believe it changed from later Windows version but for later versions at least...
1)Download file from geocaching.com save to desktop
2)Make sure extention is correct with .loc
3)Right click on file
4)Click open with
5)Search for easygps
6)Click the always open with this program

There are other ways, but this is probably easier way to describe
