I have seen a couple of profiles out there with a map of the USA and the states the user has cached in pointed out in red. I decided to peek at it myself and found the process to be relatively painless.
Go to this URL: http://www.world66.com/myworld66/login
(an account is required but they do no email verification so I suggest not giving them any real email address for spam avoidance purposes).
Then after you register go to this URL: http://www.world66.com/community/mymaps/visitedStates
(click on the states you've visited and then select generate map. It will then give you the HTML to add to your profile page. I suggest only using the first section

Some of you saavy ones might be able to figure out how to do this w/o the login or even visiting the page. YMMV.
See my profile here for an example: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=610908e7-971b-41ec-9e79-53b01f3422bb _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Cool, I like it. I'll have to try and see if this not html qualified cacher can figure out how to do it. So far I've been very unsuccessful in adding anything other then plain text.
Well it worked for me. Got the map generated and added to my profile.
Note it did say that it would send an e-mail activitation to the bogus e-mail address I submitted. However, I just went back to the log in and logged in with the user name and password I submitted and it let me in. _________________ Airborne All the Way!

I just added this to my profile. Although your example is in alphabetical order (actually it's not - the states are but not their abbreviations), you can apparently specify the states in any order you like (like WI before MN although I don't know who would put WI before MN...) |

hehe. A few of the states that I have cached in include only 1 or 2 caches... TN = 1, SC = 1, NY = 1, CT = 1 -- I don't care to keep thinking w/o food/caffeine
I just wish that the Western Wisconsinites would keep filling that side of the state with more caches. I've almost exhausted it over there _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

I've seen those maps on people's profiles, but I've never really liked the way they look. I do like the one mtn-man uses on his (profile) page, but it's not as easy to set up. It is, however imho, cleaner and much more attractive...what do you think?

Forgot to mention, another thing I liked was the ability to use more than one grouping, a'la the following test run using my own stats. What can I say, the kidlets are napping and I'm bored!

nice find FSU*noles. Now if I manage to go to any other states and cache I'll have a nice map of them.
On a side note, I liked the fact you could also shade via counties in minnesota. Same idea as the national, but on a more local scale. Here's a rough guesstimate on mine.
