What about bridges that do not convey motorized vehicles but are over motorized vehicle lanes?

Pedestrian-only bridges are generally ok as long as the cache isn't over the traffic lanes.

Smaller than that and I'll defer the judgment to the cacher that is hiding the cache.

That looks like a good common sense guideline, and one I am more than willing to follow.

Now, when you say 50 to 100 feet…? Wink

My guess is that it will always come down to a final judgment call, and I’ll trust your judgment no matter how wrong you are.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

Can this statement be updated to remove the third statement? Smaller than that and I'll defer the judgement to the cacher that is hiding the cache.
Thank you,

I'm not clear what you think should go in its place?

Through private conversation I learned that Boreal Walker's request was due to a particular cache review. While we don't review caches in a public forum (and I appreciate BW not doing so), BW pointed out to us an inconsistency between how we review and what this paragraph says.

To change/clarify the paragraph to fit with our current review practices, it should now read:

Code:
4-lane or interstate (or over 4 lane/interstate) - 100' away
2 lane roads - 50' to 100', depending on setting

We're also still not comfortable with publishing caches at all that are on, near, or attached to a bridge of any sort that carries vehicle traffic.

If you have questions about a particular cache or situation please feel free to email myself or Gat R Done through our geocaching.com profile or directly to our reviewer email addresses.

I've also made an edit to the post where BW's quote came from but left the original text in place for history.

Thanks for your understanding and support.
